Description
Forcing function and egg production Values form. Note second question hiding at the bottom.
In my opinion, users should not be given a form allowing them to enter 1200 monthly values for seasonal data. That is appropriate for long-term forcing but not seasonal - they should only be allowed to enter 12 values representing each month of the year - as is shown on the x-axis of the seasonal forcing graphs.
I understand that this form also displays values if shapes have been sketched in and that if it is a seasonal shape then it will be repeated every twelve months BUT I don't think users can be expected to understand this when entering data. This is potentially extremely confusing to users presented with the same form for two types of data! Better just to let them enter 12 values and also to display 12 values. The manual explains ad nauseum that they are repeated year after year.
Also, what if the user wants to add more or less than 100 years of long-term data? Shouldn't there be a place to set the number of months, as on the time series form?
We will need to discuss this in a meeting
