reading 0s in time series instead of missing values

Description

So for the time-series data, I think one big difference is that version 6 assumes the value to be 0 if you have left it out (in the .csv file). I dont think version 5 does this. So with version 6 I have these big spikes and valleys, and in version 5 I just have a few scattered dots.
The biomass is not going to 0 in these years, there is just a missing value for this year (i.e. I dont have data for every year. I am not sure if this is the best way to represent this, as the general trends are quite different in these 2 scenarios.
This is from the Antarctic model. I have screen shots that show the difference in the two versions, but I think it is very important that missing values do NOT get changed into 0's. Images are in Aug 16 notes.

Time series will be displayed as scatter graphs after version 6.0.0.16

oh, and 0 values will not be displayed in scatter graphs

This is fixed as such, but for the thumbnail icon, the graph does still reflect 0's instead of missing values. I am not sure how you would do this with line or fill (for larger graph also) For dots it is pretty straightforward. Maybe we want to make all graphs as dots? Could be up for debate

Yeah, I realized this when I implemented it.. Basically, thumbnails are pretty useless for scattered data such as Time Series. Displaying dots in he TS thumbnails is useless for TS with few data points. I think we need to discuss this with VC, or wait for feedback from some users before we decide to make any changes.

Solution: in the thumbnail images, series of adjacent non-zero points are connected by lines
